JAKARTA - The pair of General TNI (ret.) Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka officially assumed their duties as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
The two were inaugurated at the Plenary Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the Inauguration of the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 term held at the Nusantara Building of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI, Jakarta.
The pair Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were inaugurated based on the Decree of the General Election Commission (KPU) Number 504 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the Elected Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Pairs in the 2024 General Election.
The plenary session began at 10:00 WIB by singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya which was followed by a moment of silence.
Officially, the plenary session for the inauguration of the President and Vice President was opened by the Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani. After the opening of the session, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka each took their oath of office.
"By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and as fairly as possible, uphold the Constitution and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the nation and state," said Prabowo Subianto reading his oath.
"By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and as fairly as possible, uphold the Constitution and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the nation and state," said Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
After taking the oath, President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka then signed the minutes of the inauguration together with all leaders of the MPR RI.
Next, the minutes of the inauguration were submitted to President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka respectively by the MPR Chairman.
The plenary session was closed with President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's thanks to the leaders and special envoys of friendly countries who attended the inauguration.
"On behalf of the Indonesian people, I express my gratitude for your presence. You honor us by attending amidst the busyness of our constitutional sovereignty moment," said President Prabowo Subianto in his speech. (Red)
